EVENING EVENT: You Are My Sunshine with Terry Galloway with Special Guest Dancer, Kris Lenzo

“You are My Sunshine,” is a theatrical performance by award-winning artist Terry Galloway with special guest and critically acclaimed dancer, Kris Lenzo.

You Are My Sunshine– A Kind of Love Story

Terry Galloway has been deaf as a doornail since she was nine. She spent years living in relatively peaceful silence, until technology– in the form of a cochlear implant– caught up with her. Her first reaction to that new world of sound was to try and pull her own head off.  You Are My Sunshine is Terry’s comic, sometimes moving, sometimes profane exploration of what happened after she literally regained her senses. Directed by FSU professor Donna Marie Nudd, You Are My Sunshine is one hour of pure energetic theatre.

Kris Lenzo made the transition to dance after more than two decades as a wheelchair athlete and a national champion in wheelchair basketball and wheelchair track. As a member of the United States National Teams in Basketball and Track, he traveled to Nova Scotia, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Since 2003, Lenzo has danced with MOMENTA Performing Arts Company. He has performed several times in the Dance St. Louis “Spring to Dance” show (2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013). His appearances have also included Dance ChicagoDuets for My Valentine, Chicago’s Bodies of Work Festival of Disability Art and Culture in 2006 and 2013, Counter Balance (IVI), and annually at the Chicago Disability Pride Parade.
